Pamela Ellis 56yrs Old Killed in Fatal Hit-and-Run Investigation Underway on North State Street
JACKSON, MS – Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance following a tragic hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of a local woman in the early hours of Sunday morning.
On Sunday, September 6, 2026, at approximately 1:56 a.m., officers from Precinct 4 were flagged down by a passerby who reported seeing a person lying in the street. Responding to the scene at the intersection of North State Street and Briarwood Drive, officers discovered a female victim.
The victim was later identified as 56-year-old Pamela Ellis. Preliminary investigations indicate that Ellis was struck by an unknown vehicle, which fled the scene immediately following the collision.
Accident Investigators were dispatched to the area to conduct a thorough forensic examination of the scene. The coroner has since taken possession of Ms. Ellis’s body, and her next of kin has been formally notified of the tragedy.
The identity of the driver and the vehicle involved remain unknown. This remains an active and ongoing investigation. The Jackson Police Department is urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have captured dashcam or surveillance footage from the vicinity of North State Street at that time, to come forward.
