A routine overnight work shift ended in tragedy for 55-year-old Paris Carlock of Murfreesboro, who died after being struck by a bullet while working inside a Sam’s Club on Antioch Pike.
According to Metro Nashville police, gunfire erupted outside the store shortly after 4 a.m. A bullet fired during the incident traveled through the building’s metal exterior wall and entered the Sam’s Club.
Carlock was inside the store at the time, working in the chip aisle and conducting a product inventory as part of his overnight duties. Although he was working inside Sam’s Club, Carlock was not a Sam’s Club employee. He was an outside vendor employed by Frito-Lay.
The bullet struck Carlock in the head, leaving him critically injured. Store staff immediately rushed to assist him while emergency responders were called to the scene.
Carlock was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Despite efforts to save his life, he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.
His death has brought heartbreak to his family, coworkers, and members of the Murfreesboro community, where a normal morning of work turned into an unimaginable tragedy.
