Justin Holmes, Identified As Victim Of Fatal Shooting in Westside
A community is in mourning following a fatal shooting on the city’s west side that claimed the life of a promising young man. On Friday evening, shortly after 8:00 p.m., an 18-year-old male was rushed to a local hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the rapid response and intensive life-saving efforts by medical staff, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has been identified as Justin Holmes. A recent graduate of Confluence Preparatory Academy, Holmes was looking toward a bright future after enrolling at Ranken Technical College. Those close to him are devastated; his aunt, Asia, described him as a kind-hearted young man who cherished every moment spent with his family.
District 5 officers and investigators have linked the incident to a crime scene discovered in the 5900 block of Plymouth Avenue. While law enforcement has processed the scene, it remains unclear if a motive has been established or if any suspects are currently in custody.
