The Victorian Flagmarshalling Team is filled with heavy hearts as we announce the passing of a true pillar of our community. It is with profound sadness that we inform our members, colleagues, and the wider motorsport community of the passing of Will Gaff, a cherished Life Member of the Victorian Flagmarshalling Team.

Will passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, 5th September 2026. While we mourn this immense loss, we also take this moment to celebrate a life lived with extraordinary dedication to the sport he loved so dearly.

Will was much more than just a member of our team; he was a cornerstone of our organization. His leadership and guidance shaped the direction of the Victorian Flagmarshalling Team for many years. Having served in numerous critical capacities, including President, Vice President, and Chief Flag Marshal, Will’s influence was woven into the very fabric of our operations. He possessed a rare combination of technical expertise, calm authority, and a deep-seated respect for the safety and integrity of motorsport.

Beyond the titles and the formal roles, Will was defined by his unwavering passion. Whether he was mentoring new flag marshals on the trackside or navigating the complexities of committee meetings, his commitment was absolute. He believed in the importance of our role in ensuring the safety of drivers and officials alike, and he carried that responsibility with immense pride.

His presence at the track provided a sense of stability and mentorship that will be impossible to replace. To many of us, Will was not just a leader, but a friend and a mentor whose wisdom was always available to those who sought it.

The void left by his passing will be felt deeply across every circuit and every corner of our team. As we navigate this period of grief, we honor his legacy by continuing to uphold the high standards of service and passion that he championed throughout his life.

We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Will’s family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by his kindness and dedication. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit will forever remain a part of the Victorian Flagmarshalling Team.
