Jose Antonio Cotto Obituary, 53yrs Old Man Stabbed Dead in Following a Domestic Incident in Estate Glynn
ST. CROIX, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – A tragic domestic incident in Estate Glynn has resulted in the death of a 53-year-old man and the arrest of his relative.
On the afternoon of September 7, 2026, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report regarding a stabbing in the Estate Glynn area at approximately 3:04 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered an unresponsive adult male. Emergency medical services immediately transported the victim to the Juan Luis Hospital emergency room; however, he succumbed to multiple stab wounds. The victim was later identified by next of kin as Jose Antonio Cotto.
Authorities identified the suspect at the scene as 45-year-old Miguel A. Cotto. Following an investigation, Miguel Cotto was detained and taken to the Criminal Investigation Bureau. After being advised of his rights and interviewed, he was formally arrested.
Cotto faces several serious charges, including First-Degree Murder, First-Degree Assault, Third-Degree Assault, and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon During the Commission of a Crime. Bail has been set at $1,000,000.00, which he was unable to post. He remains remanded to the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his upcoming hearing.
