The East Cleveland community is mourning the tragic loss of 22-year-old Kayla Nicole Wells, whose life was cut short after she was found fatally shot inside a home early Sunday morning.

According to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, September 6, to a report of a woman who had been shot in the 1200 block of 134th Street.
Preliminary information indicated that a male suspect contacted the East Cleveland Police Department and reported that he had shot his daughter.
Deputies, along with officers from the East Cleveland Police Department, responded to the residence to investigate the report. Upon entering the home, authorities found Wells inside a bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite the tragic circumstances, Kayla’s life is remembered beyond the details of the incident. At just 22 years old, she had a future filled with possibilities, dreams and moments that should have continued to unfold.
